Skill-Matched Employment for the Autism Spectrum
The Other 90% Problem
Unbelievably, 90% of the food we eat in Indiana is grown out-of-state, despite the skyrocketing demand for locally grown food. On the other hand, an unbelievable 90% of adults with autism face unemployment. In launching GBG, we thought: "Why not put these two 90% problems together and develop a solution that also contributes to our local community?" Green Bridge Growers was created from this solution-oriented way of thinking.
Our growing practices are the very best. We use organic growing methods and materials, grow year-round, and employ an innovative farming method, aquaponics, as the basis of our system. Within this framework, fish and plants grow in harmony, and the fish jazz the growth of our plants so their growing time's reduced by a third. Our customers include local high-end restaurants and groceries, and we've begun exploring a future relationship with ND Food Services.
In addition, a core value of our business is to engage our workforce through leadership training, active participation, and team building, providing our employees the opportunity to gain new skills and competencies.
Join us in our journey to grow food, jobs, and hope!
